Two Little Words

Yes, and No. These words to me are equally important, don't you think? As a parent, it is important for my children to hear them both. In making decisions with my spouse, it's important to say both of them. In friendship, and the people I choose to surround myself & my family with, again it's so important to say both yes and no. So as women, women who work full-time, mom full-time, and wife full-time it is important to say BOTH yes (i.e. to self care) and no (i.e. to toxic relationships)!

I think sometimes in my life I have lived under the super woman umbrella. I admit that I put myself there, no one else has placed me there. If I'm honest, it is a control thing- not fun to admit, but true. Turns out this whole COVID-19 pandemic has been full of lessons, including "I don't have to do it all" and I am okay with giving up "normal" because "normal" was just way too much! It's been a huge lesson in not taking each other for granted and in being intentional with my Yes's.

I will leave you with this quote by Nanea Hoffman,

ree

"None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an afterthought. Eat delicious food. Walk in the sunshine. Jump in the ocean. Say the truth that you're carrying in your heart like hidden treasure. Be silly. Be kind. Be weird. There's no time for anything else."

Be silly, be kind, be weird- now there are 3 Yes's I can say/do unashamed!
